Shalom, Shalom!
Two weeks ago was Memorial Day; and it - and the weekend - truly
was. It was my 50th birthday! Now, my 30th birthday slipped by almost
unnoticed. My 40th came and went with little or no commotion. So,
I thought it might be appropriate to reflect a bit when I reached
50. Patrice and the members of our synagogue wanted to make sure
I properly understood the gravity of the situation, so to assist
my reflecting, they threw a party to celebrate my birthday, complete
with a coffin and gravestones!
Sometimes we've wondered over the years just how effective our ministry
has been. Much of our efforts have focused on people. People come
and go, and often disappoint you. So, when we read the birthday
cards, it was very encouraging. It reminded us that we truly have
made an impact. Since you have been an important part of this ministry
we wanted to share some of the comments people wrote.
"You have definitely made a difference in our lives."
"Thanks for putting a dent in my life."
"We have been given a blessing with your family that shows us God's
love. We love you!"
"Thanks for all you do, for us and everyone else."
That same weekend we celebrated both a Bar Mitzvah and a Bat Mitzvah
of a couple of the youth of our synagogue. It was a very moving
and significant event. One of the two wrote a thank you note.
"Without you guys this may not have been possible. I'm glad that's
over, but I'm also glad I did it. Thank you."
And thank you for making such things possible!
Love in Yeshua,
John & Patrice Fischer
