Shalom, Shalom!
In keeping with the season, St. Petersburg Theological Seminary
asked John to give a special lecture on the connections between
Chanukah and Christmas. (It was taped and the tape is available.)
The response was excellent. As one participant reflected, "Christmas
will never be the same for us again!" This is our wish for you as
well as you experience the significance of this special season.
This is a season when we reflect on the "good s" announced by the
angels 2000 years ago. As the angels shared it with the shepherds
that evening, we too get to share the good s with others. Our (John
and Patrice's) teaching and preaching tapes are sent monthly to
people literally around the world. They go to India, Pakistan and
Africa, as well as various places in the U.S. One of the recipients
sends them, in turn, to her contacts in Hungary, where John was
born. She recently wrote us:
"I thank you gratefully for the tapes I've received. First I listen
to them. Then I send them to several people in Hungary. Many people
in Hungary are asking for materials such as these. One of the people
I send the tapes to is a young man who is dating a woman who grew
up in Israel. He may be Jewish himself. He tells me that he "appreciates
with great joy" the tapes I've sent. Another person is a pastor
who loves Jewish people and looks forward to studying the tapes."
The angels said the good s would be "for all people." Thank you
for your gifts and prayers which help us fulfill a small portion
of the angels' announcement.
Speaking of gifts at this gift-giving season, we have a special
request of you. Please consider making Menorah Ministries a recipient
of your Christmas giving. This past year has been a very bad year
financially for us. The ministry ran $12,000 behind what we needed
to operate this past year. That means we will need to find $1,000
per month in additional donations this coming year. Please pray
seriously about what part God may want you to have in this.
Thank you... and have a most significant and special season!
Warmly in our Messiah whose birth we celebrate,
John & Patrice Fischer
