ARCHIVE: OCTOBER 1998

Shalom, Shalom!

It was quite a summer for us, and we trust a good one for you as well. The summer began with leading a trip to Israel. As always, it was a special time. It also turned out to be a special time for Israeli guide, Ronnie. He told us before we left, how much he felt loved and felt a part of us. He added that he had received as much from us as he had given to us!

Then after we returned, we received a letter from one of the people who had gone with us. It said, in part:

"It occurs to me that I will never be the same as I was before Israel. I am in awe of my God. That glimpse I have had of His divine will has left me with such a desire to know more, that I will never again be satisfied with the pat answers neatly tucked away in rows of set theology. I know you are aware of my desire to serve Yeshua. I know I am being called...to what end I am not sure, but with all sincerity I am trying to listen and am willing to hear. I know I cannot stop seeking nor knocking till the door is opened to the rest of my life. Thank you for putting up with that process in Israel. Above all, thank you for your faithfulness to God. It occurs to me that I will never be the same as I was before Israel..."

The summer ended with a Bible conference in upstate York. John had the opportunity to teach a session on "Jewish Revival: Israel, the Jewish People and God's Prophetic Timeclock". Among the 150 people in attendance were a handful of Messianic Jews and one Jewish nonbeliever. One of the people in attendance remarked later: "This session completely turned my perspective around." Earlier in the week, one of the conferees stopped John. After introducing herself, she repeated some of the teaching she had received in the class John taught at the same conference... 20 years before!

In the middle of the summer, we all attended the annual conference of the Union of Messianic Jewish Congregation, along with 1200 others! After the conference both Eve and Seth were invited to serve in leadership capacities for the youth. Patrice taught Hebrew, as well as a session on the role of Gentiles in the Messianic movement. A number of people requested her paper and the tape of the session. John taught a session on the biblical covenants which was well-received. In fact, one rabbi of a Messianic synagogue wrote in response: "Thank you once again for your biblical covenants class. I have gleaned, learned (and taught!) much from the class and tapes. There is so much to learn, and to teach and feed to those for whom almost any Messianic teaching and lifestyle are ."

If you would like copies of the tapes of these sessions, we can make them available for $7. Please specify which tape(s) you would like.

Thanks for helping to make our summer so special through your praying and giving.

Love in Yeshua,

John & Patrice Fischer

PS: Due to some computer glitches, our receipting process fell way behind this summer so you may have received receipts quite late. We apologize. Everything is now back in shape.
