FROM THE UKRAINE TO NIGERIA! (and parts
in between)
John's mother, Marianne Fischer, speaks to all kinds of groups through
the course of the year. Usually she shares the story of how the
family miraculously survived the Holocaust and supernaturally found
their way to America. (The book, TIME OF STORM, tells that story.)
Several weeks ago, she spoke to a Russian Messianic Jewish congregation
in Philadelphia. One woman who was there had turned away from God
because of her own experience in the Holocaust. After Mom spoke,
this woman came up to her. She gave her a big hug and said, "Thank
you for helping me re my faith!"
Mom was also able to let the others in that Russian congregation
know that there were Messianic materials available in her own language.
This Russian literature is available in part as a result of our
trip to the Ukraine two years ago, when John and Patrice spent two
weeks there teaching leaders from all over the former Soviet Union.
Since that time a dozen of our articles have been translated, published
in "Shamash" (their Russian language Messianic magazine), and distributed
for free among the over 50 Messianic congregations and fellowships
throughout the former Soviet Union. They have also translated, printed
and made available our prayerbooks for both Messianic Sabbath services
and Messianic holiday services. They are waiting to print several
more of our articles and a couple more of our books as funds become
available.
And, speaking of literature, we've been able to share our literature
with numerous Messianic friends in Africa as well! Zacharyah ben
Okonkwo, leader of B'rit Olam Kehilah in Lagos, Nigeria, wrote to
thank us for the significant contribution we were able to make in
their fellowship. In his own (unedited) words he said, "Our contact
with Dr. Fischer in the past few years has done greater impact in
the life of B'rit Olam Kehilah Nigeria. In fact we can hold Shabat
services and festival services without regret. We have now had more
insight on that which is real Messianic Judaism. We need more materials
on Messianic Judaism. Thank you."
We also received an interesting email a little while ago about the
impact of one of our articles here in the United States. It came
from a friend who shared one of our articles with an Orthodox rabbi
he knows quite well. Our friend wrote: "I saw Rabbi K. last week
(helped him with a car problem). I had a copy of the KESHER issue
with your Yeshua/Halacha article in it. I gave it to Rabbi K. and
suggested he read it. To my amazement he did, thoroughly, and gave
you and yeshua a rave review. I think Rabbi K. has a much softer
spot for the Jewish 'Jesus' than was ever possible before reading
your article."

AN IMPORTANT PRAYER REQUEST!
The ministry is facing a very severe financial shortage which will
make it extremely difficult, if not impossible to pay all our bills
and still receive our salary, unless we receive a sizable amount
of special contributions over the next several months. Please pray
