Dear Fellow Israel Travelers,
A couple of days ago we spoke to our contact in Jerusalem to get
an up-to-date, first-hand evaluation of the situation in Israel,
as well as their recommendations concerning our trip in June. After
considerable reflection they suggested we postpone the trip a year.
Their concerns were not due to our safety while we would be there,
but due to the uncertainty of the political situation and its repercussions.
The government has yet to be finalized, let alone installed. Even
after the government and its coalition are formally in place, there
is no way to determine the resulting response and ramifications.
So the uncertainty is apt to continue for a period of time. Our
contacts felt the uncertainty would take away from our experience
in Israel. They want to ensure that we all get the maximum benefit
and effect from our time there.
Our contacts have already began making arrangements for us
coming in 2002! The itinerary for the trip will be identical to
what is in the brochure except for the dates. The dates are June
15 to July 3, so reserve the dates now! As soon as approximate costs
become available, we will let you know.
As we say in our tradition, "Next year in Jerusalem!"
Most warmly in our Messiah,
Dr. John Fischer
Executive Director
