HOLIDAYS, HALLELUJAH & HELP!!
Well, we concluded the fall Jewish holidays several weeks ago. As
always, it was a tremendous time of celebration and an awesome time
of response to God. However, this year's observation was clearly
impacted by the horrific events of September 11th, thereby adding
to the momentous nature of these Holy Days. It became a time of
deeper significance and meaning for all as we recommitted ourselves
to the Lord and to hi purposes for our community, our country and
our world.
Underlining the sense of commitment we all experienced were a couple
of highly significant "symbolic actions." Half a dozen people went
through the mikveh. (Some of you would call this baptism, however
it is a Jewish practice.) And, a dozen people covenanted to become
members of our Messianic synagogue! As usual we had several families
and some visitors join us this season as well. We thank God for
all this; and thank you for your prayers, encouragement, and contributions
which make it all possible.
In addition, John returned from two exciting sets of meetings? if
meetings can ever be described as "exciting". John chairs the Administrative
Committee which provides oversight and counsel to the International
Messianic Jewish Alliance (IMJA), a century-old organization which
unites and speaks for Messianic Jewish groups around the world.
Exciting things are happening, and groups are springing up from
Scandinavia to Russia, and from South America to South Africa; but
you'll have to read the IMJA sletter for details. (You can get that
and other helpful material by becoming a member of the Association
of Messianic Believers, one of the IMJA member organizations; contact
us for details.) The other set of meetings involved a number of
key messianic Jewish leaders who are helping to shape the course
and growth of the Messianic Jewish movement in significant and strategic
ways.
Now, for the HELP part? As many of you know, Menorah Ministries
has developed and distributed important literature and materials
at close to cost for the Messianic movement for nearly 20 years.
One of these books, a guide for Messianic Jewish services, has gone
through 10 printings. In fact, the last printing was distributed
twice as quickly as usual! We can no longer put off the revisioning
and re-typesetting of this volume. This substantially adds to the
cost of reprinting. Our preliminary estimate indicates the cost
will be about $6800.00. This is where we need your special help.
We simply do not have those kinds of funds available at this time,
when giving has already fallen off. In additional, we have had a
number of congregations and groups worldwide, as well as numerous
prison fellowships, clamoring for copies. (We have no copies left.)
Please do three things:
1) Pray on our behalf;
2) Ask God how he wants you to be involved in helping;
3) Enlist others who might be interested in investing in this significant
project and ministry.
Thanks again for being part of our team as we serve the Lord together
at this very strategic time!
Warmly in Yeshua our Messiah,
John and Patrice

SPECIAL NOTE ON THE TRIP TO ISRAEL:
We've been in touch with Alec, our coordinator in Jerusalem. He's
making the arrangements for us to lead a group to Israel June 15
? July 3 for about the same cost as this past summer's planned trip.
In case you're wondering about safety, we've been in contact with
tour leaders who have led trips to Israel every month from May through
August, and all reported that they experienced no problems whatever.
We also talked to someone who returned form a tour in mid-October,
and he also said they had experienced no problems. In fact, he said
he felt far safer in Israel than in the United States. So, mark
your calendars and join us in Israel. Contact our office for brochures
of more information.
